Ingredients
- 1 oz mezcal
- 1 oz sweet vermouth
- 1 oz Campari
- Orange peel (for garnish)
- Ice
Instructions
-
Stir: Combine mezcal, sweet vermouth, and Campari in a mixing glass. Add ice and stir for 20–25 seconds.
-
Serve: Strain into a rocks glass over a large ice cube.
-
Garnish: Express an orange peel over the drink and rest it on the rim.
Notes
A direct swap of gin for mezcal. The smoke cuts through the bitterness of the Campari in a way gin cannot. Use a mezcal with a pronounced but not overwhelming smoke so it doesn't overpower the vermouth. Carpano Antica or Cocchi di Torino both work well as the vermouth.
